I have found that tigers will almost never make eye contact when they are inches away behind glass. But sitting on the hill many yards away, they will look you dead in the eye. I met Natasha at the Sedgwick County Zoo where I quickly learned to visit her first thing in the morning before the heat of the day sent her into the bamboo shade. Then she would make the rounds inches away from me, looking for her mother Talali in the far habitat. She sometimes ate watermelon. Amur tigers are from Siberia.
