Day after day for more than a week I tried to get a good bongo reference picture to make a painting. This was at the Houston Zoo in 2016. Finally, as I was literally on my way to the zoo exit on my last day, I passed the bongo habitat and this young buck came up and posed for his portrait. His horns are still tiny. They will be gorgeous in time. Bongos are secretive forest antelopes from the Congo. They are quite beautiful.
