Rudi (Sumatran-Bornean Hybrid Orangutan) 11×14

$299.00

This is Rudi Valentino. He was a 39-year-old male when I first met him in 2015 at the Houston Zoo. He is 276 pounds and has an arm span of 8 feet 2 inches. That is a big hug!! Rudi is the oldest male hybrid in captivity. With Sumatran and Bornean orangutan parents Rudi was created before zoologists realized they were separate species. He has never been allowed to breed. He is confident, assertive and quiet on exhibit, but a big clown to his beloved keepers.

These FRAMED portraits are 11×14, oil on canvas board. I painted most of them in the winter and spring of 2018/19 because I needed to sit to work.  A slow-healing foot injury had me off my feet.
