Lincoln School, First Grade

$3,500.00

This is the artist’s first grade class at Lincoln School in Cedar Lake, Indiana. Since she left the community at the end of third grade, she has only the vaguest memory of any of these children, although one of them is probably Fritzie Wanner, her first “boyfriend.” She also has pale memories of the unhappy little girl in the bottom row center who was so poor she had only two dresses to wear to school all year.

The paintings each have a magnet on the back that is stuck to the painted steel back on the frame. They are rearrangeable. Black, white and raw umber is the palette. The artist is the third from the left in the second row.
