commissions

My commissions become family heirlooms.

The process is easy.   First decide who to honor with your painting. Sometimes there is a photograph that precipitates everything.

Then, through one or more conversations we discover the feeling, tone and setting for the painting.   Sometimes additional historical research or family information is needed to fill in the details.   All commissions have short stories about the subject of the painting affixed to the back of the panel so that – through time – the subject and their story remain connected.

A rough sketch is made for the client’s approval.  When the painting is finished, it is submitted for a final approval, and then varnished and documented before being released to the client.  Half payment is due with the approval of the first mockup; the balance due on delivery.  The original source photograph is scanned and returned unharmed to the client.
